I’ve been making fabric flowers for the past few days, but I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them. Tonight I decided to try my hand at making my own wreath.

Inspiration:

{I found this gorgeous blog, cinsarah, this week. Love her wreath.}

My Fall Flower Wreath:

I used two different old shirts and orange felt to make my flowers. I made fabric rosettes, pinwheel flowers and felt flowers. I cut a circle out of a piece of cardboard, bent a wire hanger into the shape of a circle, glued them together and wrapped strips cut out of a brown t-shirt around them. Then I hot glued the flowers on, tied a cute orange ribbon in a bow on top and wah-lah my very own Fall Flower Wreath!

Day Thirty-One – Glow Stick Lanterns. I thought these were the perfect DIY project for Halloween. They are currently lining our sidewalk.

Inspiration and idea from Lil Blue Boo {found on Pinterest}:

Materials: Glow sticks and Mason jars.

I used a tube of bracelet glow sticks {15 for $1}. I found that with these glow sticks adding water to the jar diluted the glow. I’m guessing the glow stick used on Lil Blue Boo was a lot stronger than the ones I used.

This project was a collaborative effort that I helped with. The credit for assembly goes to Lee {she knows who she is}. I simply printed all the Letters and pictures of Audrey on book pages for her. {If you will remember the Printed Book Art project, this is a great way to display images printed on book pages} These banners are for a “My Fair Lady” themed Wedding Shower in November.

Materials: Book pages, scrapbook paper, ribbon, hole punch and scissors.

Day Twenty-Eight – Spring Statement Necklace.

Instant love, of course, when I saw these darlings. Inspiration and a great step-by-step tutorial from A Beautiful Mess (such a lovely blog, sigh, blog love!).

Materials: Ribbon, beads, embroidery thread, needle, measuring tape and scissors.

I made three of these necklaces with varying sizes of ribbon and beads. I don’t have it quite figured out, but if you follow the tutorial I would recommend doubling the length of ribbon from the suggested 42″ to 84″ and then still starting 18″ in. The first necklace I made I only put 6 beads on and was nearing the end of my ribbon (hence the bow where it is). My second necklace I added 20″ to the 42″ to see if the extra ribbon would help, which it did, but I still didn’t get as many beads on my necklace as she did in the tutorial. Finally with my last necklace I doubled the length on the ribbon and that seemed to do the trick. I also think it works best if your beads are close to the same width as your ribbon. So that’s my learning curve with this project, hopefully if you try this one yourself it’ll save you some figuring out!

I would love to know if you attempt this project and how it goes!

Day Twenty-Seven: Easy-Peasy Artwork

Day Twenty-Five – Necktie Cuff Bracelet. There are so many fun things you can do to refashion a necktie. This project is easy as they come and it literally takes minutes to make.

Necktie Project Inspirations:

1. Necktie Necklaces {Pinterest} 2. Headband {Pinterest} 3.  Eye Mask {Etsy}

4. Wreath {The Felt Board} 5. Necktie Cuff Bracelet {Linda Eve’s Blog} 6. The Men’s Room {Maize Hutton}

7. Necktie Cuff {Pinterest} 8. Necktie Purse {Etsy} 9. Necktie Collar {Pinterest}

Materials: Necktie, button, scissors, needle and thread.

I have a stash of ties {thanks to my Dad} waiting to be repurposed. This cuff bracelet is tons of fun. You can see the tutorial I read here. I made mine a little differently so I will share the super easy steps to making your own Necktie Cuff Bracelet.

Step one: Wrap the necktie around your wrist to measure length and cut. I cut mine about an inch past where my button was going to go.

Step two: Turn over and wrap around your wrist so that the inside is facing out. Position your button where you want to see it on the cuff and trace a circle around it.

Step three. Cut a button hole in your tie for your button. I decided to cut a button hole instead of using snaps. {I also skipped using a piece of plastic to make it more sturdy as suggested in the tutorial, but it doesn’t really seem to need it}

Step four: Sew on your button.

Step five: Wear.

{I might go back and hem the inside edge later, but since you can’t see it and I’ll be wearing it not giving it away I figured I could skip hemming it}

What will you make with a necktie?
